Delegation of the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci, headed by the president of Municipality Nenad Milenkovic and Deputy President Stefan Stevic, visited Cyprus in the period from 10 to 14 November 2018, on the occasion of their participation on International Conference “ Touristic and resort cities; nowadays and tomorrow, challenges and opportunities” where major subject was the preservation of historical and cultural buildings.

In the framework of their visit to Cyprus, delegation had a very fruitful meeting with the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Sylloyris, where they informed him about the role of Sremski Karlovci on the project “Novi Sad 2021” on the occasion of proclamation of Novi Sad as European Capital of Culture for the year 2021.

On this occasion delegation informed about the idea of fraternization of the municipality of Sremski Karlovci with one of the cities of the Republic of Cyprus, which was initiated at the time of the visit of D. Silourisa in Sremski Karlovci, on May this year. During the meeting with the mayor of Geroskipou, Michalis Pavlides, which took place on November 14 2018, they discussed about the modalities of future cooperation between the two municipalities.

Delegation visited the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Nicosia, where during the talks with Ambassador Marko Blagojevic, they presented their initiative more detailed. It was mutually ascertained that this kind of cooperation contributes to overall development of good and friendly relations between the two countries.

After the meeting, a lunch was organized with representatives of diaspora. Embassy would like to thank Mrs. Dragana Nikolic Christou, who contributed with her engagement to the successful realization of the visit.
