The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Nicosia would like to thank the Republic of Cyprus for its principle position and support it provides in terms of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, especially in international organizations, as demonstrated by the yesterday's voting on the so-called „Kosovo” for membership in Interpol.

Republic of Cyprus was one of the five Interpol member states (together with China, Spain, Argentina and Surinam), which supported Serbia's request that the General Assembly of the Interpol vote on the abolition from the agenda the request of the so-called „Kosovo” for the membership in this institution.

In the second round of voting, 68 states supported “Kosovo” membership, while 51 countries were against, among which Cyprus was one of the first, and 16 abstained, meaning that so-called “Kosovo” was short of the necessary two-thirds majority of the present HQ Interpol member countries.

We shall never forget the friendship and support of the Republic of Cyprus.
