On the initiative of the Embassy of The Republic of Serbian in Nicosia on the 24th February 2019, the Founding General Assembly of the “Cyprus – Serbia Friendship Association” with over forty (40) participants, was held at the premises of the Embassy. On this occasion the aims and objectives, structure and ways of operating the future association were presented. After some discussions relating to the future functioning of this organsation, the provisional members of the board have been elected and the draft statue of the association has been approved.

The association will be managed the Board of Directors consisting of seven (7) members: 1. Nenad Bogdanovic, Executive Director of the Cyprus Symphonic Orchestra, President of the Association; 2. Aleksandra Sanela Trzin, Advocate from Nicosia, General Secretary; 3. Svetlana Agastinioti, Chief of the Finance Department at the American Academy in Nicosia, Board Member; 4. Biljana Zarkovic, Tutor at the American Academy in Nicosia, Board Member; 5. Michalis Kyriakoudes, Businessmen from Nicosia, Board Member; 6. Dragana Christou, Teacher of Serbian Language, Board Member; 7. Stanislav Jankovic, Sports Director of the Judo Association of Cyprus, Board Member. All Board Members have been elected unanimously.

The main objectives of this Association, are the future development and promotion of friendly social, economic and cultural relations between The Republic of Serbia and The Republic of Cyprus, as well as, encouraging mutual solidarity and cooperation between the two people.

The Association will particularly take care and nature the preservation and promotion of the national identity, language, cultural heritage of the Serbian citizens in Cyprus.

Some of the activities and tasks of the Association will be the organisation of meetings, cultural and artistic events, promotional activities, educational activities, humanitarian work, connections with all public, on-governmental bodies in Cyprus and Serbia, as well as, in the EU and internationally, all in order to achieve the basic goals of the Association.

The Association accept members from all citizens of Serbia living in Cyprus, all Cyprus citizens and those who have lived or continue to live in The Republic of Serbia ( for example, a former Cyprus student who studies in Yugoslavia), entrepreneurs from Cyprus who work with Serbia and vice versa, families of mixed marriages, as well as public and private companies from the civil and social sector interested in the cooperation between Cyprus and Serbia.
