A delegation from the city of Novi Sad, led by the mayor of this city, Miloš Vučević, visited the Republic of Cyprus on the 4th and 5th of July 2019.

On this occasion, the Serbian delegation met with mayors of Nicosia, Strovolos, and Aglantzia municipalities, in order to discuss the possibilities of further cooperation in the fields of culture, education, youth politics, tourism, and economy.

Two sides exchanged their thoughts on topics of mutual interests concerning local self-governments. The Cypriot side was especially interested in the experiences of the city of Novi Sad as a European Youth Capital for 2019 and Cultural Capital of Europe for 2020.

Furthermore, the Serbian delegation had a meeting with the political director, G. Shakalis at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During this meeting, it was reiterated that very good political and historical relations of the two countries are of great benefit in connecting people and cities of Serbia and Cyprus. Therefore, there are great possibilities for the further strengthening of this relationship in various fields.

Mayor Vučević also met with the Cyprus-Serbian Friendship Association’s Board Members at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Nicosia, where he was informed about the Association’s plans and activities. They also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the near future.
