A Delegation of the National Assembly of Serbia was in an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus from the July 3-6, 2019, upon the invitation of the Cyprus representatives.

The delegation, led by the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the National Assembly of Serbia, prof. dr. Žarko Obradović, and the chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cyprus, Biljana Pantić Pilja, consisted of the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the National Assembly of Serbia (Ljiljana Malušić and Nikola Savić) and the representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cyprus (Dragana Barišić and Stanislava Janošević).

During this visit, the delegation met with the President of the House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Serbia-Cyprus Friendship Group in the House of Representatives, Yiorgos Lillikas, as well as the Minister of Defence, Savvas Angelides.

A high level of political relationship and cooperation was acknowledged by both sides, expressing gratitude for mutual support in preserving the goals of national interest for both countries.

Further possibilities for improving the cooperation of the two assemblies were discussed, based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Assemblies of the two countries, which was signed last year in Belgrade.

It was also reiterated that there is a strong potential for improving trade exchange and economic cooperation in general. Both sides agreed they should continue to provide mutual support in international forums.

On the second day of the visit, the delegation had a meeting with the representatives of the occupied municipality of Famagusta.
