Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Mr Mladen Sarcevic paid an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus on July 18-19, upon the invitation of Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus, Mr Kostas Champiaouris.

On this occasion, a bilateral meeting of the two ministers was held, during which they discussed possibilities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in November 2018.

After meeting with Minister Champiaouris, Minister Sarcevic met with representatives of the Education and Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus to discuss the internationalization of higher education, the mobility of teachers, students and professors, as well as the Serbian supplementary school in Cyprus.

The Cypriot side shared its practical experience and contact persons were exchanged for future direct cooperation. On the second day of his official visit to the Republic of Cyprus, Minister Sarcevic had substantive meetings, first with the Director of the Cyprus Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education, prof. Dr. Mary Koutselini, who presented the work of this agency and its competencies.

After that had a meeting with the Rector of the University of Cyprus , Mr Tassos Christofides, as well as with the Vice-Rector of Cyprus Open University, Mr Socrates Kacikas.

The main topic of these talks was the internationalization of higher education. This visit created the preconditions for starting cooperation between Serbian and Cypriot universities and scientific institutes by agreeing to sign the Agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education.
