State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nemanja Stevanović, participated in the opening of the 20th World Conference of Overseas Cypriots, held in Nicosia from August 27-30, 2019.

At the conference, which was officially declared open on Tuesday 27th of August by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades, were also present the representatives of Cypriot diaspora from the USA, Great Britain, Australia, and other countries, as well as the Greece deputy minister of foreign affairs for diaspora, A. Diamataris, Romania’s Minister for Diaspora N. E. Intonero, Armenia’s High commissioner for diaspora Z. J. Sananian, and the president of Jewish Agency for Israel I. Herzog.

The introductory speech at the opening ceremony was given by the Presidential Commissioner Ph. Photiou (as a host of the conference), the Head of the World Federation of the Overseas Cypriots, (POMAK) A. Papaevripides, the Head of the International coordinating committee “Justice for Cyprus” (PSEKA) Ph. Christopher, and the Head of the Youth of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK) Ch. Tuton.

On the margins of the conference, State Secretary Stevanović met separately with the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Syllouris, and with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Tassos Tzionis, with whom he spoke about the improvement of the bilateral relationship and cooperation of the two countries.
