THE SECOND ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CYPRUS-SERBIAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION

On Saturday July 4th 2020, the Second Annual Meeting of the Cyprus-Serbian Friendship Association took place at Vassiliades Winery in Omodos, with the participation of more than 40 members.

President of the Association Board, N. Bogdanovic opened the Meeting, followed by the speech of the Ambassador of The Republic of Serbia in Nicosia, Marko Blagojevic. After that, the secretary of the Association Board, A. Trzin, informed the people gathered about the registration process of the Association, which is in its final phase.

During the discussion that followed, delegates of the Meeting presented proposals on the functioning of the Association, such as membership and the creation of a web-portal for faster communication. Furthermore, there was a discussion about the problems that the Serbian community is dealing with in Cyprus.

Members of the Board who attended the Meeting are S. Jankovic and D. Nikolic-Christou, Ambassador at the MFA of Cyprus, D. Theophylactou and major Nikola Peric, Chief of Operations at UNFICYP in Cyprus.

Honorary guests at the cocktail organized after the Meeting were Ch. Vassiliades, owner of the winery and respectable Cypriot lawyer, who was presented with a gift – a model of the monastery Patriarchate of Peć, as a sign of gratitude for his hospitality and friendship towards Serbian people, the Ambassador of The Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Cyprus, O. R. Leyva, and the Ambassador of Bulgaria in the Republic of Cyprus, L. T. Todorov, with their families.
